No email address for my website...

Good or bad idea?

I am building a pretty straight forward message system on my website. Where a person can leave a comment, ask a question, report abuse and so on. Instead of using email I was going to have all messages dropped into a db. This would give me a chance to sort and check for content. For example, match IP and content against messages already in the db. Add a little security to keep from flooding the system and what not.

I would still have to use email to reply to messages but I was thinking of just auto-deleting any and all emails sent to my website. This would save me hours of time sorting through spam.

What is going to be the downside of not having a email address?

--------------
On a side note,

I was thinking of giving clients personalized email address's, if need be. For example, if a client wanted to contact me by email I could simply tell him that his email address will be hisname@example.com, and then just keep all email from hisname@example.com. If my client list remains short and managable, would this be a good idea?

sounds good to me. If you don't need a way for uses to contact you, I wouldn't mess with the email hassles.
