vbb or ubb. Vbb is good if you take the time to learn what it takes to set it up for your sites audience. I wouldn't run a vbb/ubb in default config mode today. I think you have to have a unique look from the top to the bottom.

In general, what type of site are you setting it up for? There is a huge difference in what works for a professional oriented board, sales board, a support board, general chat board, or to say a game board. Those are the big "types" of boards out there and they all require something slightly different. You have to speak to your users.

Hi promoter and welcome to the board (=this one)

If I understand you correctly you want an externally hosted board? I checked out a few but cannot recommend any so far.

I settled for a phpbb, which is very easy to set up. Basic configuration can be done via web-interface.
For people like me, who have never before done perl, a full personal customization however is a lot of work, try and error...

Nevertheless I really think it's rewarding. To get a board going is a difficult task - getting the look and feel and functionality of the software right is an important part.

I use PHPBB for my boards, I've tried others and hosted remotely - nothing can beat hosting your own board (:

Is the webmaster world forum software publicly available?

Either way, Brett, you did a good job with it - I'm impressed.

>webmaster world forum software publicly available?

The last word on that was no, it's part of the WmW brand.
