I have a really strange problem .I upload a favicon to replace my old one and even though its deleted from server it still shows the old favicon when i bookmark.
Ive deleted all cookies, temp, cache and did a search on my system for the old file to be sure and it cant be found.
So where is it being called from if its not on my server or my comp.
And to make it worse this morn i just tried to upload
to a freinds site and when i upload the favicon for them my new favicon appears on their website even though i uploaded their favicon.
Most perplexing thing ive ever come across yet.
AAAAAAuuuuughhhh!

Two things to try (both are long shots):-

1. shift-refresh
2. Delete any bookmark with that favicon in it from your bookmarks

Thanks TJ
Tried the shift refresh, still shows old favicon.
Just installed netscape and it finds the new one so
i;m sarting to think its something to do with windowsME and IE, cause its not on my website and i deleted from favorites as well and doesnt show up when i search my computer.
I also installed adaware since i already used spybot
and ran 2 seperate virus scans so im just boggled.

While we're talking longshots...

Try left clicking on the favicon in the address bar and, with the mouse button still depressed, drag the icon slightly and then let go (the page should refresh each time). Do this two or three times to see if it brings up your new icon.

That's interesting 2odd. I've just been playing around with your long shot and I noticed I could create a shortcut to a page by dragging the icon to the desktop. On the desktop the shortcut icon that appears is the favicon, which now doesn't show in IE...!

I'm thinking it's a bug...?

Funny, I had this problem earlier today. When I opened the favicon file in an editor the correct (new) one was in fact there. But the old one still showed for me, both in IE and Mozilla. Solved it by deleting all bookmarks and closing all browsers. When I restarted the browsers the new favicon was there like there was never a problem. It must have some odd logic on getting refreshed. Try closing everything and starting over.

Yup, that just fixed it for me.

<drag the icon slightly and then let go>
Thats a neat way to refresh, didnt work but appreciate the attempt.

Im not sure other bookmarks really affect it?
I think you could have just deleted the one and got the same result.
Whats getting me is if you try a search on your computer for favicon.ico it will find all of them, anywhere, but mine doesnt find it cause its not on my system........
unless IE is reading dat files cause i just got a new system and havnt ran an auto deltree bat. to wipe out the IE index.dat,tempor~/index.dat,etc.

Thanks again for the help!
