Searching my site

I want to create a search engine to search my site. Has anyone ot any tips on doing this?

I personally just let Google spider the hell out of my site and then just use the Google search box for it :)

With a customised layout and header, works very well.

Don't want to use google as it's based on an intranet. Would really like to create one myself

There are many such products available. One such, that's free of charge, is FDSE [xav.com]. But you might like to search for others, as they all have plusses and minusses.
