Hey this is the smallest problem i ever had

When i push " it doesnt display anything
when i push it twice i get ""
So there's no way to get " without pushing twice and then pressing backspace.
Never had this before and there must be some windows setting to change this.
But i can't find it. Help? anyone?

P.S. no hardware problem and no spyware on my pc.

What editor or program are you using? Some programs have features like "smart quotes" that may show the behaviour you're seeing.

Agreed, that drove me crazy when I first started using Homesite, unfortunately it was also with a new comp so I thought something was sticking on the keyboard.

Sounds like a good feature. Means you never forget to close the quotes.

You're sayng it's doing it even here, in your browser, when you try to post on this website?

Are you on Windows XP? Ahhhh . . . . there is something in the Accessability Control Panel (sticky keys? hotkeys?) Hopefully an XP pro here can help you out, I've forgotten how to get there. I had some trouble with it when XP first came out. You may look into that.

Its a keyboard setting in the control panel. Play around with the keyboard type options.

The most annoying thing I've ever found when trying to code is having a cat (or two) trying to say hello, crawling all over you, the keyboard, the mouse and the monitor.

Mine tends to get a quick slap from behind and disappears for a few minutes.

The same thing happened to me. I had set the keyboard to "International-English" but I guess I had a "American-English" keyboard. Once I switched it to the matching setting it worked.

Check your sticky/filter keys by holding down your right shift button for 8 seconds. I'm not sure of all the options but your problem does sound like a sticky feature.
