hello,
does anyone know why MY email address would receive email spam from EVERY other client of a host server? if so, please suggest solution--tired of being a free firewall with appropriate risk--been with host firm for over 5 years and problem is getting more and more voluminous on daily basis--
thanks
jack

Welcome to WebmasterWorld irish_jack!

I'm not 100% sure I follow you - can you elaberate?

You're getting mail that is addressed to other domains that are hosted with your hosting company, or something else?

Sounds like a virus type problem similar to the one we have. Although i wouldn't think it is your machine that it started from.

I receive emails from address that are practically identical to those of friends and collegues i.e. if my friends email was his.name@domain.com, i would get a spam email from hiss.name@domain.com - note the his and hiss.

There seems to have been a few 'virus' type things started which basically just send email to and from people in address books - or to similar sounding emails.

I also received an email to myfirstname.mysurname@ntlworld.com - but noticed that it had actually been sent to EveryVariationOfMyFirstname.EveryVariationOfMySurname@ntlworld.com - strange?

I don't know why this happens, but it is getting very worrying. It doesn't seem to be doing any harm, and i do have Norton running on my machine.

I don't actually know a fix, I just wanted to sympathise ..... as i know how frustrating this is.
