Fat Overweight Header

Need diet help

I have a site that has an overweight header, can anyone point to a good optimizer for graphics or a tutorial to do so in PS CS?

The header is increible but needs reduction.

I was thinking the same thing. My header is about 16K, and never thought to much about it until I was on a friends 28K Modem. Boy was that painfull.

Whats the max recommeded header size anyways?

My new site had a 37k header. I managed to get it down to 16k without losing a noticeable amount of clarity with PS "save for web".

I played with it in PS CS save for web and got it down. I played with some of those canned "gif-jpeg" reduction software, Good for a complete newbie, junk IMO if you have PS.

There are some great articles I found on bit depth and what not that helped me tremendously to do with PS. If you guys want some links to those let me know.
