this is the text of an email that i received today it contains a well knows virus sent as an atattchment but this time is has a different sender name.
there are a few variations of this email that have been in circulation for a while in general DO NOT open a file attatchment unless you are sure it is from a reliable source.
Message to anyone out there who doesn't have anti virus software installed,

Sometimes these viruses are sent out to everyone in the address book, without the party even being aware of it. And their name is on the email, too!
So even if it appears to be from a trusted source, it might not necessarily be so. It's best not to open any attachments unless it's known in advance that it's being sent, from whom, and what it will be for.

The new version also has a different extension: .bat
I notice that the English is cleaned up a tad as well. I believe it used to say "I send you this file to have your advice."
It has its own SMTP engine and digs email adresse even from the disk cache. So even if you are smart enough not to use Outlook this nasty can spread all over your Wintell PC. This virus picks some actual file from the document folder and sends it along with a copy of itself.
People wich computer are infected are totally unaware they are spreading it.
Just write a polite mail to the person about it, telling him he sends all his personal files all over the net without knowing it. It is some good motivation for most people to get some anti-viral protection.
I got this 8 times in 24 hours over this past weekend. It was Sircam. Kept coming from the same address to an address of mine which I know is on a Spam list. The sender was Alex Rodrigez: alex@lacorte.tv. The only reason I mention the sender and the Email address is because I did a Whois lookup on lacorte.tv. According to Network Solutions, there is no such domain. I contacted the ISP's whose addresses appeared in the header and told them about it. Finally, they stopped coming. I'm not sure if it was because the sender solved his problem or the ISP's blocked it. I do know there is a page at www.lacorte.tv, regardless what Network Solutions said. It's only one page, no links, and has a large .jpg image on it that says "Super Facil" and no useful information in the source. Beats me!

Two days ago a received what it seems the same virus (the same text in the email) and an attached file of more than 200K.
The McAfee Vshield didn't intercept it (I had the 4158 dat file).
I do not know if the attached file contains a Virus or not (I did not open it :-)).
I sent it to MacAfee and I am still waiting the reply.
It is curios that McAfee updated the DAT file from 4158 to 4161 in one day!!!
Once it infects somebody's computer, it uses their address book and the persons' usual *From* tag so you will think it is somebody you know. I get it at least once a day. It followed the "Snow White HaHaHa" message and may or may not be related.
I have a Mac and antivirus software which I update regularly, so its no problem, but a few of my suppliers and competitors have had real problems as a result. One problem is that so many people use that stupid VC (or whatever its called) attachment with their ID details on all their e:mails which is completely unnecessary. I open them because they could be and usually are potential customers ... but anything which is 224K (exactly and everytime) is that virus.
