email/e-mail, internet/Internet, wesite/web site

Anyone?

My personal preference is email, Internet and web site. I *believe* the latter two are grammatically correct, but the former I keep changing because Google says email but the dictionary says e-mail. The BBC does both.

Any ideas?

I was using e-mail up to last week. Now I am using email because I have grown to dislike the hyphen key.

In my *real* job I work as an online editor and for years I've pushed for regular usage of "Internet," "email" and "Web site."

Me, too. I do think Internet needs to be capitalized. It's a Proper Thing.

Internet is correct, but I hate using it. Using the capital letter implies a God-like entity in my mind. ;)

Effective with this sentence, Wired News will no longer capitalize the "I" in internet.

At the same time, Web becomes web and Net becomes net.

Why? The simple answer is because there is no earthly reason to capitalize any of these words. Actually, there never was.

Hmmmm. I disagree with the "never was" idea. But I also understand the logic in the article that the Internet (whoops) is just another medium. We don't call it Television, or Radio ... so maybe I'll have to get used to making that a lower-case i in Internet. Habits are so hard to break. ;)

I always go with email, Internet and web site. The latter two seem to be correct, but even I have to concede that it should be e-mail as it is a conglomeration of electronic and mail. Even knowing that I just can't bring myself to hit that hyphen key. It just seems like too much trouble and email just looks better than e-mail.
