Pentium M processor Speeds

I would like to know if anyone has experience with the different processor speeds of the Pentium M chip?

Is there an enormous amount of difference between 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 and 2.0.

Is it really worth spending extra on 2.0 rather than 1.7 and the same for the 1.7 rather than the 1.6 etc?

I have an asus laptop that runs with a P4 2.0 M CPU. It isn't nearly as powerful as the regular P4 2.0 chip probably it runs at a lower voltage to conserve battery power. Depending on how you use your machine, you shouldn't notice much difference between 2.0 and 1.7 for daily usage.

Benchmarks show that the pentium M is actually really fast. Most times if the hardware is very similar a 1.6M will keep up to a 2.6P4

I would get the one that is priced most reasonable. I just went and looked at where I get most of my stuff and there is a big defference in price between 1.6 and 1.7 so I would probably choose the 1.6

The one thing that will make a noticable difference and is what makes most notebooks seem so much slower then pc's is the hard drive.

Get the fastest HD you can.

Of course if I was going to use it as my primary computer I would spend a little more on the cpu.

[added]Just to make sure that I am being clear here. The Pentium-4 M is pretty slow. The Pentium M (Centrino) is very fast.[added]
