this is so weird. I am trying to load a website via windows xp, i.e. and netscape. When i try to connect via my isp the site wont load. Every other site loads fine. If i switch isp the site loads fine and if i specify the server ip via hosts file it loads fine. But using my ips's dns servers the site wont load (and the problem is this one site). Cant figure out the problem or how to sort it.

... did the page move recently and your ISP's namserver has old local cache data?

Try specific dig or nslookup queries to investigate what the differences are between your ISP's nameserver data you get and what other nameserver tell you.

Could also be your ISP is previously hosting your domain for you and they are still having your old zone information in the DNS server.

In this case, you'll just have to ask them to delete your zone from their DNS server.

the site hasnt been moved. its virtually hosted. I have control of nameservers via a seperate host. nslookup from my own machine gives an error, just my lan ip. running that command on any other connection brings up the full dns server and website ip info.

Sounds like an issue that your ISP should help you resolve, nothing to do with your site.

If nslookup, shows no default DNS server, then no site can be resolved.

You could also check if you have set static entries for DNS server settings for your LAN IP.

but the thing is its only this site thats affected. Al others sites are resolved fine even on that server. Tried going through the isp. They asked me to change from auto settings on the router gateway to manually inserting the dns servers. at this point nothing could be resolved. they then said that as i was using their supplied modem they couldnt offer support! i know thats b"ll....but i wouldnt to try and figure what could be causing this before getting back to them.

is there anyway to see what ip a dns server is looking for if it cant resolve it. When i do dns comman nslookup if i cant resolve it it gives an error. but how can i find what ip its looking for?

You can do lots of great things with dns at dnsstuff.com (not a sales pitch, they dont sell anything and I am not affiliated with them- just a great resource)

isp dns wont load this site.

If you have dsl, shut down your modem for 15 seconds.

If you are on dial-up,
I've had this happen and I used a program called CIP to work things out (google it or yahoo it or download.com it).

Besides all the clearing of cookies and such (which you probably tried), you could find your hosts file and rename it (so you dont have one, or its empty), that might be something to try.

I once had to contact a dial-up ISP to let them know their name servers weren't updating, so it could be that as well. Good luck.
