Is there a way of finding out where a site is hosted ???

you should be able to get most of the information you need from using the whois tool

[searchengineworld.com...]

I also quite like the UK2 service.

From here [uk2.net] you enter the domain you are interested in into the box in the top left. It will run checks aginst the .com, .net, .org, .org.uk and .co.uk variants.

From the results output, you can check the whois data (details), go to the website, or use the investigate to run tracert, ipowner, whois, dig and host queries at the same time, and get the output in a nice package. The tracert does go from their server though
