I´m really excited about Mambo 5.0 coming out at the end of this year.

However, supposedly it uses XML and CSS far more than HTML.

I only know HTML and can tinker with CSS... XML might as well be german.

Anyone know some good books for learn XML and CSS, since I have time to read them now.

Oh, and anyone know where I could buy english computer books in Barcelona?

I think to buy English computer books in Barsa you're probably better off buying them from amazon.com, their british site, or something like that, the price will be much lower, I used to live there but can't think offhand of any bookstore that had much english book selection. A friend of mine stayed after I left and got all his books that way, much cheaper.

I would have thought that going to the US amazon.com site would be best, since books are cheaper in the USA than in Europe. But British amazon would be second-best, since generally books are cheaper in the UK than in continental Europe. You'd only need to use the second option if there's a super-efficient Spanish tariff on the import of printed matter from outside the EU.

If I remember right, shipping times are much quicker if you order from amazon.uk but I could be wrong about that, though from my experience shipping oversees is very very slow, US to europe, I've done that quite a bit, and it can take 2 weeks.

I seem to remember that there was a pretty decent technical type bookstore somewhere around placa universidad, I can't remember the street, sorry, but it was on one of the main streets I think. It's one of the main bookstores in the city, lots of academic technical type stuff, there aren't that many like that, so if you ask around you should have no trouble finding it, just go to the downtown university and ask one of the lovely catalanas for help :)

What is it you liked about Eric Meyers' book. I am looking for a CSS book as well. I need one that really teaches the basics and does not waste much time on advanced features or has a lot of fluff.

All the O'Reilly books, including the erik myer one, don't have fluff, they are the only computer books I would actually pay money for, as reference books they don't go out of date, and the people who write them tend to be the absolute best people in their fields, like Erik Myer. The downside is that in order to get this quality, they don't have as many examples as you might want as an absolute beginner, but the upside of that is that you don't have to go out and buy a real book once you've learned the stuff well enough, like you would with say a SAM's type book.

Eric Meyer's book is great in that it doesn't assume prior knowledge and takes you through a series of case studies. Read it in conjunction with the discussions in the CSS forum here.

If youi only buy one book on how to do CSS, then that is the one. The other book you should buy is Eric Meyer's Programmer's Reference for CSS. Keep that one next to your PC for quick reference.

Maybe also check out Eric Meyer's web site.
