Does changing my host mess up my SERPS?

probably a dumb ass question but hey! ;-)

Going to start a new site this week and want to know whether if i change hosts in a few months, will that mess up any spidering or SERPS?

in the back of my mind I am saying "of course it wont you Eeeeegit why should it?..the URL is the same....content the same, backlinks same......it just lives in a better place!"

am I being a fool?

As far as I know, the only negative result would be if your site has any downtime during the transition, and the spiders come by right then. In that case, they may assume it's no longer in operation. But someone more experienced in SEO than I am might have more valuable advice to share.
