I have AOL and I hate it. I have had it for 4 years. I would like to switch to a better dial up service.
I do not need or want much....just need a good fast connection. (netzero-I do not like)
My location is just outside Los Angeles, Ca.
Also,
If I get rid of AOL, is there anyway to get my AOL email "forwarded" to another email address?
(this is the only reason I still have AOL...my email address)
Thanks for your replys in advance.
Dan
You can drop AOL, but before you do, email a new address to everyone. If you can't make the switch without dropping AOL first, set up a temporary address at a third party mail service so you can at least collect it there until you get a permanent address.
As far as ISP's, there are lots of choices besides AOL. Time Warner is one of the larger ones. Check out your local phone provider for DSL services.
Good luck,
Goober
ps. How can you sift through all the S.P.A.M on AOL? It's pitiful.
is there anyway to get my AOL email "forwarded" to another email address? No. You'll probably want to keep the AOL account open simultaneously with your new provider until you're confident everyone important has switched over to the new address.
I imagine many WebmasterWorld members have bought a personal domain name and set up their permanent e-mail address there. For instance, your "real" account might be companyone@cox.net but the address you give to people could be co@companyone.com. In the future, if you switch from Cox to Earthlink, you simply change co@companyone.com to forward to the new address and save yourself the rigamarole of getting everyone you know to update their address books again.
