Deleting this items would be tough, and not such a good idea. Some options... First, try to find a coresponding entry under the Add/Remove programs tool in control panel, and uninstall any of these programs. Some may not allow for this, though. For those that don't, search your hard drive for the program in question and check to see if there is an uninstall program available in that particular program's directory.
Finally, you may be dealing with spyware in your startup group, which can get really tricky to remove, unless you use a spyware removal tool, like AdAware.
What ever you do, make sure you prevent that particular program from starting automatically before you try to remove it. Also, make sure you really know what a particular program does before removing it. Windows 98 isn't known as the most stable OS out there, and messing with this stuff can potentially cause you a lot of grief if you remove the wrong thing.
These information are in registry. If you are comfortable enough in editing reg, you can try this:
* Start ---> Run ---> type regedit
* You will see a windows explorer. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ---> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows ---> Current Version ---> Run~ (this is where the uncheck entries are stored. You can delete them)
* Similarly some entries maybe found in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER same path to Run~ folder.
If you are not comfortable, you can take a backup of your registry before doing so. But in general, Run~ folder is harmless enough that you can delete it without taking a backup.
HTH.
