Homegrown Alternative to AdRelevance?

I'm thinking about offering competitive intelligence services to my clients and am interested in services like AdRelevance that show what sites their competitors are currently showing advertisements on. These types of services spider thousands of high-traffic sites and build reports on which companies are showing banner/text ads on them.

I'd like to do the same thing on a much smaller scale - say maybe 20-50 sites limited to a single industry. This seems like something that I could conceivably do myself, possibly with a modified spider script. Does anyone know if a script like this already exists or what I would need to do to have one custom made? Thx for any help.
