2 Parts to this ..

I have 4 domains , all different topics but with a similiar geograhical theme.

I find it so much easier to use premeade templates then modify themm for my own use.

I found a template that I would love to use throught each of the se 4 domains... sa they all all very similar appearence ( and similiar code).
Will the SE's care these 4 sites (appearnce wise..similiar code) are so alike. ? The actual content will be differnt.

Also on one of the domains I want to link from all the pages ..maybe 100 .. to all the other websites(domains) within our holding.

So on every page of website "A " will be a corporate message something like Thank you for visiting Website "A" we invite you to visit the rest of our Familiy of websites .. Website B , Website C and Website D

I dont expect a lot of PR from the links .. just so bots can find these new sites and for visitors to navigate to our other websites.

There wont be a lot of linking back and forth... just mainly from website A to the other 3 websites.. keeping in mind they will all be using the same design..

Anyone see a problem with that?

I don't think there is anything wrong with that especially if they will have different content. What you are describing is a network or a family of websites so having them look similar is not a crime. The only issue you might have is visitors getting bored or not realizing they have just moved to another site. I saw a lot of networks that use the same template but different colors. You might want to think about using something like that. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with it. Good luck.

I've not seen any ill effect using this technique. I do this quite often covering different products and it's fine.

In my opinion, the search engines should not care if the same code or layout of the webpages are the same. In-fact there will be similar designs that are internet wide that provide better usability.

The linking idea sounds fine as long as you are doing it for the visitors and not for the bots. Because the way I see it, a site that is well designed for all users, is also well designed for bots (if the bots are programmed well).

If you're doing any black or grey hat stuff be careful how similar they look. The code may be significantly different but that may not hold up under the eyes of human.
