Here are the results:
Total WebPage Size 20969 (bytes)
Visible Text Size 4852 (bytes)
Size of HTML Tags 16117 (bytes)
Text to HTML Ratio 23.63%
Number of Images 16
Largest Image Size 5503 (bytes)
Size of All Images 33524 (bytes)
Grand Total:
Images+Html= 54493 (bytes)

Is this way to much for the home page?

If so, how is this effecting my google ranking?

I think your page size, in general, is fine. ~20kb without images is not bad. Also it is suggested that you keep it under 15kb all together, but it is difficult, especially for content rich sites.

What you really should worry about is Text to HTML Ratio. That is what Google cares much about. It loves content, and does not like layout as much. The closer your actual content to the top of html file the better. The lighter your html the better.

I suggest using CSS for your markup. That way you can save on size and Text to HTML Ratio.

Good luck!

I wouldn't worry too much about a 50K homepage though it is on the heavy side. Mine's anywhere from 40K-50K depending on what's going on and it does fine. I would deffinitely encourage you to look for ways to trim down the size if you can, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it if you can't.
