Need to switch message board providers

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have been using Proboards for some time now and have been paying them $7 to get the ad-free option, in order to display my own ads (Google Adsense). Now the ad-free option is "temporarily unavailable" and their own ads are being run, forcing me to drop mine. The amounts that I make are small, but it still annoys me and I figure that now might be a good time to make a change...

Anyway, could anyone recommend any board providers? Free or paid-for.

Thanks.

Try looking in this google directory [directory.google.com]. You'll find a lot of good ones in there with demos.

If you have access to cgi-bin, perl, and php on your host, you should maybe go to self-run forums. Search for "php forums" - there's some pretty good ones out there.
