Mailing list: Inviting subscription on enquiry

UK law: anything wrong with tick box to subscribe?

When visitors complete an online enquiry we want to invite them to subscribe to our mailing list.

I'm not quite up to date on the UK laws for mailing lists. I believe the emphasis is on opt-in.

Is it ok to have a line in the enquiry form with: "Tick box to subscribe to our mailing list..."
- And the box is already ticked by default.

Yes, but it's not advisable to have it pre-checked. I recommend making the opt-in process an active event, rather than a passive one.
