Is it Me, or Does the Web Seem Broken, Lately?

Nothing works the way it's supposed to

Intermittently throughout the week:
  • Unsuccessfully tried logging on to my Overture accounts.
  • Adsense website is missing in action
  • Orkut is so buggy it makes me itch to think about it
  • I tried to refill my account at a download directory and the shopping cart times out.
  • Findwhat: Who designed their site architecture? It literally takes minutes to figure out how to add keywords. It's not like they don't have a couple coins to go out and buy a clue
  • Installing Blog Software: Got Xanax?
  • Internet connection issues :o

The internet highway is a bumpy road. There are so many potholes and bad drivers, it's a wonder why I fire up my box in the morning.

Is it me, or does the web not work the way they told us it would?

Yeah I've had some weird stuff happen today myself. Probably because I've been up for 48 hours trying to make a corner of the web work the way I said it would!

I'm sure if you ask the creators, their sites work just fine. ;-)

I think we forget sometimes how young the internet is. Nobody really knows what they are doing. Not the same way they do in other mediums. You'd be hard pressed to find someone with 9 years solid internet experience. In other mediums, you'd have people with 30-40 years experience who have seen and done it all.

You have to take into account as well how easy, cheap and quick it is for someone to put a webpage up. Even for the big dogs. There is very little in the way of a "Let me think about this" barriers that you would see elsewhere. Half the time, I think they get so excited that they can do something new (and cool), they forget to check it completly through.

Is the web broken lately? Nah, it's always been broken. We've just been fixing it bit by bit over the last decade. You've just gotten better at realizing it's broken.
