I appologize in advance if this is not the best place to post this question - but I thought I would give it a shot.

My mother downloaded some EARN supported ad-ware a couple of months ago, and it has slowed her computer to a crawl. (EARN is similar to the GAIN network I believe).
I tried uninstalling the app(s), but can't seem to be able to get rid of them.

Anyone have any expierience removing these pieces of problem software?

Thanks!

you really need spybot to do a good job... using their uninstall feature is like making a deal with the devil... it never takes is all off.

Adaware and Spybot will get rid of most of them. For some you need to be a bit more aggressive, using something like Highjack This to query and edit your Register, but be careful with editing as you can do more damage than good if you nuke the wrong entry.

Another thing to remember is to check what each program wants to delete carefully. Sometime they erroneously register some cookies as threats.

Have you try quickcleaner.com? It works great for me.
