Just in case the original poster doesn't realize this commonly misunderstood term - backend means the stuff behind a website, not it's administration area or the like. So for instance a database would be a backend for a database driven website - NOT the administration pages.
Given that, they're completely different things. Ask an arhitect if they design software of houses better.
