Streaming Video

I was wondering how I setup a video file to "stream". I have a client that wants a video to be availible for steaming and for download...

There are full dedicated server packages that will stream video for you...and there are also cheap software programs that will do the job for you as well. It depends on the file size, the number of simultaneous connections you expect, and a few other things. What's the video for, how big is it, and what sort of traffic?

In a word "Flash"

Even on a hosting account that doesn't support streaming you can create a video that streams in flash.

I agree with vrtlw, Flash with its video compression and built in streaming is the tool for the job unless the video is over large.

its only for a test site im doing for a customer.

I just need to have the video stream to him once.

Flash might work, but it's pretty expensive. I've done some light streaming with software like Webcam32. However, if you don't need to embed the video in the page and just want it available for download you can just put the file on your server and link to it. That doesn't require any software at all.
