Offline "Site Search" to search webpages distributed on DVD

Where should I start looking for something to do this job?

I'm trying to help market a product that is sold on DVD. Basically it's a set of webpages organized according to content. Unfortunately, the only way to find the content you want at this point is to manually look through hundreds of descriptively-named directories and try whatever webpage seems appropriately named. Maybe it will be what you want, and maybe it won't. Obviously, making an "index page" with a sort of "site search" would be a vast improvement to this.

I could handle implementing the site search if the product were only available in an online environment. However, since it's being distributed on DVD, I can't use any server-side scripting for the search. I know there are some JavaScript site search scripts out there, but so far they've seemed either very limited, or terribly complex to set up to search a large number of webpages (7500 plus).

So I guess my question is, how can I use client-side scripting to create a site-search for this project? Or at least, where can I start in my search for a solution?

Thanks,

Matthew

try this thread:
[webmasterworld.com...]

andreas describes the process for running apache/php/mysql from cd - you could do that and then use php for the search..?

and i think if you work through the thread theres a link somewhere to the downloadable files required

good luck.
