Who is your webspace provider? I use jumpline.com and they're good but I have an emailing problem that they haven't been able to help me with. My clients notice it...so they want another company. (They don't want that same emailing problem in their account). I'm not positive that the problem is on jumpline's end, everything else about jumpline has been great, but this multiple email copies issue seems insurmountable...

Anyway, I need another provider to steer my customers to (I'm a web designer). Preferably with an affiliate program so that I can earn a bit of money or free server space off of the deal.

Recommendations? Thoughts? They must have awesome tech support as jumpline has had.

They must have awesome tech support as jumpline has had.

Why when they have such awesome tech support are you touting here for recommendations for new hosting companies because they can't solve your support request?

Perhaps you may have more luck detailing the problem you have here and seeing if any members can identify a possible cause to the problem.

Very good point. Ok, I'll try to make this concise.

My webspace through them comes with as many email addresses as you need, set up through Neomail. You can access Neomail through the web on your server space.

When I send messages, it often sends more than 1 message. It can send the recipient up to 15 copies of the email that I send. This multiple copy of the email problem is random. Sometimes, Neomail sends just one message.

Jumpline Tech support said that I needed to set up an email client like Outlook and suggested that a piece of software like Outlook would regulate the flow of emails better. (This sounded weird to me.) Customer Service said that most jumpline customers don't have an email client and run the email program through Neomail with no problem, however.

So I wrote back to tech support and they said that it must be my browser. And suggested that I download a new one. But this is bs because I access my email from multiple computers/browsers every week, not just my Mac at home.

Then they simply said that it was out of their control/realm. That it wasn't their server, so it must be my browser or?

I tried de & reinstalling Neomail on my server and that changed nothing. I may hook the account up to an email client like Outlook, but I don't think that's going to change anything.

I think that it's a weird virus, but I really don't know. It has wasted so much of my time though and my clients are really pissed when 15 copies of an email show up in their Inbox. So I'm just using my yahoo account for now. Anyone have a clue what's up with my email?

And does anyone know of a good webspace provider that I can direct my clients to? They won't sign up with jumpline after having their inboxes flooded with so many (annoying) copies of my emails.

Firstly I would try as suggested, setup outlook or another POP/SMTP email client and see what happens with a few test messages.

As for the virus issue, this is very unlikely, viruses are mostly client bound and as you say you have tried from many clients this pretty much rules that out. The first thing that comes to my mind is are you using an ISP with a proxy server? Some ISP's (AOL to start with) use a proxy server to connect to websites, this can lead to multiple (about 15 sounds normal) http connetions to websites. Perhaps this may be the cause of the problem.

If you find after testing with a POP/SMTP client that mails seem normal, you may want to look at if there are any patterns in your ISP connectivity.

HTH

[added]BTW, if you are interested in a different web based solution incorporating outlook or other clients you may want to look at a squirrel mail/imap solution[/added]

I don't use AOL (ugh) but would the proxy server definitely be something that is on my end? I don't use anything like AOL. Could you give some other examples of proxy servers? Could Neomail be using something like that?

I'm going to try setting my email client up, but it will render my email useless to me since I am always in a different location (rarely at home and not on my own laptop).

I was just going to set up a yahoo account, have the Neomail email forward to that and call it a day/find another webspace provider for my clients.
