Hi All,
I am developing a hosted e-commerce solution....I have a reseller account with C-Panel for the clients and I have the WHM panel.

What I would like to do is merge as much as possible my solutions back-end with certain functions provided by C-Panel.

I don't seem to be able to create custom installs for my clients C-panel

Has anyone got a good idea on how I could come up with a nice solution to this?

Thanks a lot in advance for any ideas...

Actually put in simple terms...

Is it possible to put a button/link on the C-panel interface?

Not unless you have root access to the machine.

WHM allows you to create "packages" for Cpanel users. They are not terribly flexible, but they are about as advanced as it gets within that environment.

I am assuming you have a WHM reseller account? If so you will be limited to what is available in the standard WHM/Cpanel install.

My advice in today's environment is to ditch the reseller account and get a dedicated server. The cost difference tends to be miniscule and the advantages huge :)

moltar is probably right. However you should check if you could do the things that are described in :
[cpanel.net...]

If you take a look at the addon scripts directory (if you have root), you amy be able to add some there yourself as I have.

I had added a bunch of mysql php type addons a while back, but most of these come with fantastico now a days, so I only have one in there now...

It is hard to maintain if you have a lot of server, youhave to do a wget nightly to download latest tarball from a central location, which is ok, but you still have to keep an eye on lates versions and all.

HTH :)

Sorry, I should have answered this too:

Yes, you even as reseller. Just go to your WHM, download or copy a theme, modify it, then upload it to the server.

BTW, you can get creative with WHM news, and add links there too, sometimes it is better as you do not have to update your custom skins.

HTH :)

Hi All,
Thanks for the welcome and also the pointers.

I do have a WHM resellers account...I hear what you are saying about the dedicated server but I think this would be too complicated for me.
Thats said it seems to leave me without direct access to my themes, no download etc.. =(

I am more a designer than a coder and the thought of looking after a server is too much to bare =)

I did find the WHM news option quite good and I have managed to insert and image in there that could serve as a banner/button.

Infact I really just want to offer the client access to the email config pages of C-panel as all the rest I will be taking care of or is irrelevant.

Would it be possible to take the pages of the C-panel relating to email and to put them in another folder, modify the code a bit and make those page part of my solutions back-end?

Apologies if these questions are a bit newbie but i have to admit I am a newbie on this front.

Thanks again

Just want to point out a great tip. With cpanel you can access your webmail without going to cpanel. You can just type in: yourdomain.com/webmail/
