They are not for free, but does have very good features and does good job.

Here are the things you should be looking for:

  • Direct database access - VERY helpful
  • Multipart capability - essential if sending HTML
  • Comprehensive preview and test send features - can save a lot of embarassment
  • High speed sending engine (if desktop solution)
  • Spell checking is nice
  • Read tracking is helpful - to show how many people don't see HTML...
  • Comprehensive merge (and conditional merge) capabilities

For the desktop, I like GroupMail and Mach 5 e-mailer. I would suggest you try several and see what you like.

I use Mach 5 e-mailer and am happy with it. I've used it with excel and access databases. I'm not saying it's the best thing out there, only that I use it and am happy with it. Pretty cheap, too.

    Hi,
    Thanks all for the reply.
Since with a desktop software I will need a fast internet connection and their permission as well, I was thinking of considering of using a web based system so that I do not have to use my internet conmnection. MY ISP (DSL )has said that I can not send more than 250 emails a day from their conenction.
thats why i sugegsted email daddy..
    What do you say..
    thanks

I would suggest Vertical Response or perhaps JangoMail. Jango Mail offers better integration with your desktop database and open tracking by recipient; VR offers better previewing and test sending, and a more favorable pricing structure.
