I have a website that offers Background Theme Sets, templates and other graphics. I charge just a couple of dollars for each of the sets or else $7.95 for membership which gives people access to all the sets on the site. I haven't really been doing this for long, but I was getting about 3 or 4 memberships a week, which really was helping to supplement our income because my husband lost his overtime pay at work. Suddenly this past week... nothing.... no more memberships.
Someone told me to put a referral tracker device onto my home page, which I did. I noticed that after a couple of days there were only about 5 or so search engine referrals from Google... and it was only when people typed in things like "Manor Designs" and things that have to do with Country Manors -like as in people trying to find out about buying a house, designing a Country Manor, etc. (My site's name is "Country Manor Designs). When I used to type in "Background Sets" into Google search engine, my site was on the first page, usually always, so I am wondering if this isn't the problem. At one time in the past I had a tracker and it showed that people were typing in "templates, background sets" and so on and ending up at my site.
Anyway I cant figure out what the problem is. And I am worried if it keeps on this way I will really start to feel the pain, so to speak. Can anyone offer any advice? We resubmit the site regularly so I don' think that is the problem.
Also I keep seeing stuff about links... can anyone clue me on on that? Are you supposed to just go around exchanging links with anyone you can find to do that with you... in order to improve your search engine ratings? I am not experienced at all when it comes to website promotion, so please excuse my ignorance :)
