I am confused. I use the frontpage extensions at my hosting service.

I have a website www.mysite.com. I want to create a subdomain, for example, coolers.mysite.com
However, I end up with something like this

www.mysite.com/coolers.

I don't want it like this, what am I doing wrong?

That is up to your web host, i.e. whether they allow subdomains.

Yes, they do allow subdomains. I sent them an email, and they asked me to tell them what my subdomain name would be so they can create it.

So, I have 2 questions:
Is there a way to create the subdomains by my self, or do I have to tell them to create them

If I create 5 subdomains, will they all be hosted at my current website? I mean, would I have to pay a hosting service for each one, or would my current hosting fee cover them?

Again it depends on your host and package, my former one wanted to charge per sub, my present one doesn't.

With hosting these days you need to compare the fine details and this is one of them. I just moved from Aplus to Lonex and both let me create subdomains at will. There is a time delay, but it is acceptable. It is done from the control panel. At Aplus, I have to simply create a subdirectory and it shows up as a subdomain.

a subdomain is really just a pointer to a sub directory.
subdomain.yourdomain.com
points to
yourdomian.com/subdomain

if your host sets these up for you then you need to tell them what you want it named so they can do it.

some hosting plans allow you to do it yourself through your control panel.

some hosts give them to you free others charge for it (I don't know why, it is only an edit to one file to set it up and uses no more space)

luck,
