Not sure what system to use, or where to look for advice.

I am not a backend expert so have no idea where to find the answers to my question so thought I'd trust webmasterworld as you guys seem always to have the answers or know the right places to find answers.

Basically, I use Outlook Express (ancient version) to do this manually at the moment but need the process automating.

I send all customers a Shipping Confirmation Email on dispatch which is then copied into a folder in Outlook Express. Shortly after I then manually email these people to ask for a product review offering a voucher.

Current process:
1) open the email copy
2) forward the email
3) change the from address, change the subject line
4) enter some standard text into the email (above the original content which is basically the order details / product info)
5) change the person's name
6) add the person's email address
7) send the email

What I want to do is automate the process.

So, question is. Is it possible to automate this process using Outlook Express.

Or, is there a better alternative Email program which will do this.

Or, would I be best using some sort of database type scenario? Where should I look for info? I have worked with elance before so if it requires much coding etc I could get someone to do this.

Any help would be much appreciated. If this post is in the wrong place please forgive and place in the right folder (I use PHP / MySQL but wasn't sure to put it there initially)

I doubt you could do a lot of automation with outlook express. Depending on your volume and resources, it might be time to look into one of the off the shelf eCommerce solutions. Check the ecommerce forum here on webmasterworld.

I have looked over Outlook Express and couldn't think of a way.

We have a bespoke website designed by me (I'm a low-level programmer and not really a back end guy) and not looking to change 'just yet' although this may be an option for the future.
