Here's the situation.

I am running a site currently which uses a brand new (3 months old) asp based CMS.

I was infact the first site to use this cms. This CMS is being developed by one guy alone, who obviously doesnt do it full time.

This CMS has all the basic functions:

Categories
Articles
etc.. etc...

However, if I wanted addons such as a link manageer and such, I would have to pay as much $70-150 per addition (this is where he plans of making his money).

My site is currently 200 or so informational articles (growing at about 4-5 a week) and a link section.

Should I stick with this guy OR should I make a move now to a "older" and even open sourced CMS like phpnuke or even moveabletype?

Any suggestions?

There are many OS CMS systems. Many of them are extremely professionaly managed by teams of developers (not just one guy) with established support, themes and modules. I have my favourites as do many other people. I suggest you try installing a selection of CMS and see which one meets your specs. If nothing else, this will remove any doubts you may have about your choice of system. However, unless your current CMS has some unique feature that you can't get elsewhere and must have, save your money. The job of moving your existing content will be a pain. But better to do that now than later. Esp when you could be stuck on a system that is eating into your finances.
