Hi sorry to bother you I will be attending New England Tech in March For web development. I have used html for years to creat e websites, always enjoyed this field. I am more graphically inclined, and never used Cold Fusion, Java ScriptDHTML DOM
ASP VB.NET JSP UNIX LINUX PHP SQLPERL. I believe having the full spectrum of skills is key and if I had projects I woulnt have to outsource for what I want to get done.

What is the job market like these days for some one with little experience?

How I can I get a good jump on the basics so I am ahead of the game?

Are there any forseeable changes concerning e-commerce in the next few years?

I want some real life answers here what do you recommend? Please..help.

A few years ago I had the opposite problem. I could program but I couldn't do graphic design. I hooked up with a graphic designer who couldn't code. After we worked on a few projects I picked up some graphic design skills and he picked up some coding skills. Nobody knows everything, but you can find people to fill in, in areas where you have knowledge gaps.

Also I would suggest learning the basics of some scripting language (PHP/ASP). PHP & ASP basics are pretty easy to learn. Also get some database skills. Most commercial sites use some sort of a DB.

Another thing is to take on projects that are just beyond your current capabilities. A real world project and some pressure can speed up the learning curve (lol).

I was working with a friend who did alot of print design work, at the time I was working for an ISP doing sales. Web was on my mind but I wanted to learn abit about another medium (print). All of the sudden he gets like 5 sites to do and thinks it is just as simple as doing print....I was like your nuts but still thought getting the projects done (outsourcing for coding and e-commerce, and we would handle the graphics). Well in the end I found that he didnt like to work weekends...I was like what the *&%(? and some of the projects got scrapped... I decided that I wanted to do whatever needed to be outsourced, or most of it...Not for the money but I do love designing in all aspects...So I have done some html stuff..Copying some sites and tweaking a bit.. Is there a tutorial on the basics?

Thanks so much for your input aswell..
