Could someone give me any suggestions on how to increase traffic for a non-ecommerce site. I sell a service, a service for a targeted market group. Basically I need more page views per day to increase the liklyhood of new contracts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How about writing some articles about your service? This will provide more keywords for search engines and also more page views for you.

It's probably fair to say that the search engines can only understand text and possibly user behavior. You need a lot of useful text on your site and a lot of good links on other sites. That's it in a nutshell.
