it doesn't count the background image size!

Sorry if this is off topic but I couldn't find a better forum for it.

I just noticed Search engine world's webpage size checker doesn't count the background images size. Doesn't this kind of defeat the main purpose of such a great tool?

That depends...

For users the most important things are going to be the on-page image sizes, the background image is normally the last to load.

For spiders everything apart from the basic page size is irrelevant, and to be honest I thought that tool was more aimed at the "optimising pages for spiders" crowd than the regular webmasters.

But still since it does do some image work it seems a little strange that it doesn't do it fully!
