I just had my resller account suddenly canceled! I have 12 clients on it and now they are without hosting! The last client had a russion acceent and kept calling me and talking about his big mailing list. So all of a sudden without warning my reseller account is canceled leaving all my clients without hosting. What can I do to avoid this in the next reseller account I get? Thanks for the help, I need it!

don't trust people who say they have big mailing lists. Only rent from reputable sources in your industry and be very, very forward about it.

I would contact the ISP BEFORE you send the email to get approval.

No I didn't send the spam. I have never heard of this. I guess it was him because he kept talking about a mailing list. I had a reseller account and they canceled it suddenly.

I think the first place to start would be to find out why you got dumped...

yeah, check with the host to find out why. I was under the impression that you had sent the emails from the Russian gentleman.

No I have a reseller account and got a client. HE sent the emails. That is why I got dumped they said. They have a zero tolerance for spam.

Gotcha. That's a real problem with reseller accounts.

I used to provide web hosting for a fee, but I stopped pursuing that because I couldn't control what people were loading on my server and sending out via emails.

It's a brutal business to get started, and I didn't want the headaches.

I still host for a few clients and friends though.

Anyway, I now want to have separate accounts for each client and not be a reseller. I will sell the account with each website I sell. Does anyone know where I can get 12 accounts of about 15 mgs each for $10 a year each? These 12 are not spammers. I've hosted them for a couple of months.

I don't know anywhere that sells for $10/year. $10/month would be the minimum I would think.

I had an account on a Linux box with the C-Panel interface. Is there a way to turn off all email activities does anyone know? On my reseller panel where I created accounts it said number of email accounts I wanted for each client. If I put 0 (zero) would that mean they could not send email?

If you mean in Web host Manager, yes that should work. Also you would probably want to put in place some client vetting processes. When I was contracting some tech support for a mid sized host, we used a long list of steps to try to keep out spammers and hackers. The first thing was to reject all orders from Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, and South America. Then we tried to verify all the submitted information and relied on the final Gut Feeling check before installing them. We still had a few that would sneak through.

It is common practice for hosting providers to kick out a reseller who has clients that SPAM, because it endangers the Host. Since many hosts are goign to virtual ip addressing, all or most of their other clients on the server will also be blacklisted if one of the accounts sends spam and gets on Spamcops list.
