Redirecting from old website

My website has been removed from the server it was on as my account was closed, is there any way I can redirect people to my new address if I can't access the old one anymore?

It depends. Do you have control of your domain name? If so, yes. If not, no.

If you were on on a free host/isp webspace, then it's a useful lesson many of us have learned the hard way: you must be in control of your own domain name.

Thanks - it was on my old isp server and has now been uploaded to my new isp server so it looks like I will have to readvertise.

For a free isp server account site I always use a redirect service. Then if something happens and you have to change to another ISP all you need to do is change the address at the redirect end.

if you were able to log on to the site via FTP you could try doing that. If that doesnt work all you can do is make sure that it wont happen again in the future.

I want more clarification about the domain name control you are talking about here.

I have my hosting provider and paid by six months in advance. it included a free domain that I'm using and I paid for an additional domain that I wanted to protect and is parked pointing also to the free domain. Both of them registered trhu my current hosting provider.

What is the risk here? I had beed reading a lot that this is a big mistake and want to be prepared to take action if is neccesary.

I noticed that both domains are registered in the name of my provided (no my name) so I'm also contacting them to know the reason. But I don't want surprises so please let me know the risk here.

Mamabear: It's not too late to start working for the future. What I would do is register an appropriate domain name at one of the many registrars (I use Gandi). You can then direct the new domain name to your webspace and advertise it. If, in the future, you change isp again or opt for paid hosting you can redirect again or change the nameservers associated with the domain and continue without a break in service.
