Ok my visitors 33% of the time reload my pages within 40 seconds of coming to the site. Ive Html checked it and found a few problems which have been corrected.

But im at a loss to see why....

Some of my Jpg files start with a capital letter, I know a few years ago that caused problems with some browsers but I d have thought not so much now.

Any ideas?

There are could be many reasons, some of I can think right now:
  • You have random content on your page (random image, random quote). Visitors are curious and want to see more.
  • Your server might be slow. It can appear fast to you, but slow to some other parts of the planet. You should try and ping it from different places (ask someone you know from a different country, or look online, you can find web based pings in different countries)
  • You have a javascript that may cause some browsers to crash/not show content correctly (look in your logs and see which browsers refresh the page, are they all the same?)

Try and study your logs, see maybe there are some similarities between users that refresh.

I found that our site was not properly loading over dial up lines. Worked fine with high speed. People would have to reload in an attempt to get the missing pictures.

Changing to a new webhost fixed it for us as the html code was fine.

stickly me with your current web hosting company and I will let you know if it is the same one that I had problems with.

Ok I have no Java running on the page except monitoring java that the surfer doesnt know about.

Ive pinged it the page comes back at under 2 seconds, Ive optimised the images most are under 8K.

The main browser people are using is I.e 5.5 and higher the one im using, the only problem I can see is that I use layers and these may not render well.

Apart from that Im lost.

Anyone else?

Have you tried asking your customers? Try putting a text box on your checkout page for comments and sugestions. You may get one of your customers letting you know why.
