A client of mine wants a simple chat room on his site so he can hold events pertaining to the focus of his web site. Can anyone suggest any free, simple, and easy to install Java or PHP chat rooms that I can use for this purpose?

I have an excellent solution for you that is free and you can customize to your own site. It uses a java applet. It's called jIRC and can be found at a mirc site. I don't think the forum rules allow the url or I would post it for you. Good luck!

check out the php scripts available at places like hotscripts, there are plenty of them and php is usually easy to set up. luck, robert
