I have a vBulletin forum that I use as part of my Car Club website.

I have an ex member who had left the forum over a year ago and has sent me an email stating that I have to take all of his posts off.

As owner of the forum does anybody know whether I in fact now have ownership of all of these posts?

Many thanks

Does your terms of service state something to the effect that anything contributed to the board is considered fair use, or a soft license to use?

If so, you have to do nothing...

Brett,

As I am not really a Webmaster and am having to learn all this the hard way, I only have the standard vbulletin one that you get when you register.

My understanding was that when you posted on a forum, they then became property of that forum?

Correct - it is considered a soft license to use.

Brett,

Could you explain or point me in the direction of anything that states this ... and what is a "soft licence" to use?

Apologies for all the questions!

I'd be interested in hearing a bit more about this too. ;-)
