Ok, it is quite easy to split the UK up as we have 4 main subdivisions then all the counties that fit in that.

Not so much fun can be had with the US. Is there a way to split the USA into divisons less than the states.

Canada has a nice number of subdivions. Well done Canada:)

Come on USA, sort it out!

Will north, south, east and west do? Are there any options like that?

Cheers

Not gonna happen. :) At least not in anyway that people will agree with.

We have the Midwest, we have the Deep South, the Far North, east and west of the Mississippi, (used to be important, everything west of the Mississippi was the untamed territory). We have the Mason-Dixon Line which many Southerners and Northerners think is important. To further confuse things, the bulk of the Midwest is decidedly in the eastern and nothern portion of the land mass.

The Florida Keys aren't considered part of the Deep South, nor is Brownsville, Texas. We have the Plains States. We even make distinctions for parts of a State. The thumb Of Michigan and the Panhandle of Florida and Texas. And Texas reserves the right to split up into 5 separate states. Don't forget the Pacific Northwest... ;)

No t r l b as in CSS. Bummer.

I suppose I will have to go with states then. That does mean that there will be next to nothing in some of those parts of the DB.

Thanks a lot USA! lol

There are 3,219 counties and 25,375 places which make good insertions for <title></title> :)

I got them from the 2000 census here [census.gov].

It'll take me a million years to do just the USA. I got the rest of the world to cover as well. :)
