I've been having problems hooking up to websites I normally visit (like here)....been asking a few other people online (specially those iwth BT broadband) and theyre having the same problems.

I think this old article maybe covers the problem
[theregister.co.uk...]

Just a heads up if anyone in UK is having problems hooking up to sites tonight. Seems your'e not alone.

We had the same problem using NTL broadband though.. Perhaps it was a different problem

Yes, someone pointed out that AT&T also had some problems, so it was probably a wider thing.

is it possible to tell difference between ntl/bt, I thought BT still had a monopoly on our network ;)

ntl broadband is through the cable (tv network) isn't it? It's not ADSL anyway. Must be different as BT don't do cable TV services.

You're no doubt right superbird, pologies for sarcasm ;) I'm in rural scotland, NTL only ever really focused their services in the cities so I wouldnt know any better about them.

My connection seems OK now, whether it was BT BRoadband or a wider net prob, seems sorted.

There was an undersea cable that broke which affected mainly uk, maybe that.
