6 months ago I decided that I wanted to get into the web industry, hopefully as a designer or developer.
I didn't know much about it and looking back should have done a lot more research but I naively signed up with a company to learn web-design.
However, I have since realised my mistake as the course is not going to help me. It was more about Java than web-design and not up to scratch. I was offered it as a course to give me the qualifications I needed.
In the meantime I have started learning HTML, CSS, etc and so I contacted the company to try to stop the payments and they have told me of a new course they do which is more of what I want. However, I do not want to continue with this company.
I have already paid about a third of the course fee and I am now trying to at least make sure I do not pay any more.
I'd be extremely grateful of your advice on how to approach getting my money back and where to go from here.
You're already at one place you should be - right here at WebmasterWorld. The other place is [w3schools.com ]. Between these two sites, and some practical, hands-on experience, you'll be well on your way.

That is probably about the best you're going to do. I don't know of any school or other educational provider that refunds money after you've started taking classes and using their service.
Maybe if you can prove that the original course description was deceptive, that might be another story -- but it depends how far you want to go to get your money back, if you want to get a lawyer involved, etc.

Where to go from here -- you're in a great place now if your aim is to learn. Soak up as much information as you can fro
