I've check the add new hardware & it detects the burner, but when i click on the mycomputer icon it doesnt show the burner or rather the E dive - any ideas why?
i dont have the software for the burner anymore - cant find on the main site either.

Drivers are the key... what operating system are you running on that computer? What brand is the CD burner? Details are needed.

Does the drive spin up or respond in any way when you put a CD in the drive (blank and/or a finalized disc)? Are you sure it's installed correctly -- has power, etc.?

CD Writers don't need you to install drivers.

Any operating system from 98 onwards will find the optical drive automatically if it is connected correctly and has power.

There is an issue with some versions of windows where you may not see it in explorer but it will be in device manager.

But as Shannon_Moore says more details are needed. You always have better chance of having your problem resolved if you provide enough information to explain it.

Sorry was out 2days. I'm on winxp home, & the cdrw is liteonit 24x10x40.
yes device manager detects it & when i put in a cd it runs & can read the data in it.
Strange thing is now it's shown in the my computer windows.

hmm, so where can i get a cd burner software to burn stuff. free would be best. thanks.
