After reading an old thread on WW, I installed the Kerio personal firewall on my PC on which I run Windows XP. I am happy with its speed, ease of use and generally everything else about it but I am having a few issues.

My issues are:

1) Windows Media player no longer works properly. It gives the error, "Resource cannot be located" when it is launced by Internet Explorer after I request a resource through a web page.

2) I am getting pop-up ads sent to my PC. I am not referring to pop-ups while surfing the web. I am referring to pop-ups that are sent to my PC as a result of my machine possibly broadcasting my IP address.

I feel that it could be my personal settings on Kerio that are causing these two issues. I have tried a few different settings but with no luck. I tried reading the documentation that came with Kerio but did not find anything relating to this.

Any help would be appreciated, I would still like to keep running Kerio.

Thanks.

on,

#1 it can't get through the ports it needs, MMS
has different requirements than IE. You may find
an app note at kerio.

#2 turn off the messenger service in XP which is the
reaction, and, block outbound tcp and udp on 135,137,139,500
which is the broadcasting to begin with.(simplified version)

Thanks plumsauce.

I visited the Kerio site and they pointed me to an offsite FAQ which should help. For others who may experience similar problems, here is the link:
