hola,

just wondering what peoples strategies are for the "Privacy and Electronics Communication Directive" which come into force on Dec 11th 2003.

last year we acquired a site that makes extensive use cookies and will basically will not function with them.

i can see this being a real problem for sites using things like jcart...

anyway, would like to hear your thoughts..

Cookies are no problem. The act requires two things: customer can reject cookies (this can be down to their choice of browser and/or firewall/security programs) and secondly that you inform them of the use. Look up the w3c definition for xml files for defining the purpose to the user (called p3p).
