Webcam crashing router

Everytime I launch my webcam my connection goes down

Hi all

I'm using a Creative Webcam through my laptop on a wireless network at home, and every time I try to have a webcam conversation through MSN messenger my connection goes down (for the whole network). The only thing that gets it going again is rebooting the router.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Is it likely to be a software conflict, or an IP thing?

Check you're running the latest version of the firmware for your router - I know the Netgear router I use had a number of bugs which could cause the connection to drop in certain situations in the early versions of the firmware but which are now fixed in the later revisions.

This is especially true if the webcam is trying to use a protocol feature which wasn't fully implemented when the original router firmware was released.
