So I hope I'm not really breaking the TOS here.
Not having a server admin background, but just pure reading & test & trial I got real frustrated with a host that I currently purchased & am about to change.
So what I need before I change host are as below in accordance to the importance of it:
1. Apache is definite to block IP & agents. - Windows cant do this on a per hosting level right?
2. Emails - create as many emails under each individual domain - ( with my current host - I can create as many domains under 1 account but can create individual emails under them )
For each domain created there will be an independant administrator login who can create the emails that they want. Exactly like Ipswitch Imail - but it's for windoz only.
3.Log files & stats viewing - most host provide them.
From what I see these 2 are the most important to me at the moment. If those 2 are fulfilled, the rest are usually standard - mysql, crontab, etc.
Would also like to ask if that host would allow httpd.conf or .htaccess
But most of my development will be done on Mysql.
Do anyone have a recommendation - sticky me?
I've read about - pair , verio , wh(i'm currently on)- the emails are the problem , danthorn & globalservers - if they are any good.
Wouldn't want a dedicated coz to pricey & budget around 50 -60 p/month.
I think currently VPS & reseller hosting are the latest right.
Bandwidth & MB ain't that important at the moment.
There are many, many threads on the subjects of web hosts in our archives, just do a "site search" and you'll be overwhelmed.
We don't generally like to recommend or dis specific hosts for obvious reasons. You've already discovered some good things and some bad things about the host you are with at the present time.
This site is hosted on Westhost, and that's all I'll say on the matter.
My personal sites are hosted on my own servers.
