Look up the WhoIs information and see who owns it, then contact them?

I've done some like this too (to help out other sites with keyword - type in domains) but I've always verified it was OK with the webmaster first.

Although, for all you know it could be a friend joking with you. ;)

maybe it's a compliment

does the domain have anything to do with what you do? Might send some traffic.

I'm doing that with one of my undeveloped domains. It gets a bit of type-in traffic that I can't use so I'm just forwarding the visitors to a highly relevant site in the same region.

It never occurred to me that anyone would take offense to a bit of free traffic.
